Came across an oldie today... a Savage Model 3C single shot .22

The owner said it belonged to his grampa's uncle  it didnt look that old, anyone know when these things were made?

Anyone have any info about this gun?
Anyone know where I could get parts for this gun? (Specifically a bolt)

The 3 C was one of Savage's entry level .22's. I don't think they made any really expensive .22 's for that matter. These guns were well made and sported walnut stocks. They were made in an era where cheap did not mean poor quality. The market they were aimed at (no pun intended) was the rural population. Farmers trappers etc who needed relaible service from a well priced firearm. Wes at Ellwood EPPS should be able to fix you up with a bolt. They are very accurate and fun to shoot.

cheers Darryl

Does your Savage look like this?

This is my Savage 3B. I have no idea what the difference is between the 3B and 3C. Mt grandfather used to own this way back. He used it on the homestead. He is long gone so I can't ask him how old it is. I can tell you for sure that my father learned to shoot on this rifle in the late 30's so it is at least that old. I take it to the range every time and it is quite accurate even with the crude sights.

yup, it looks like yours Normmus, except as wrong way pointed out- no grove in the stock & a curved plastic but-plate (cracked on this one) It also has a rear peep sight.. and the front sight is missing
