You can order parts for your '64 direct from Savage, or go through Brownells. Your rifle is actually a Model 64Cooey that ended up being taken up by Savage after Cooey did the tits-up. They are a neat and accurate little rifle that will put a lot of others to shame if properly set up.

Now...were the 64's made for Savage, Mossberg, Winchester...and Cooey (or is that a Winchester sub brand?) and Sears? Generally known as a Lakefield 64?
What are the upsides and downsides of this design?
It seems as if you need to remove the stockAND the barrel to clean the barrel and chamber properly...is that right?

I adore my 64's.
You do have to clean them often. I do mine every 500-1000 rds. You do have to take them down completely to do so, and you may find you don't need any parts at all once having done.
Remove stock, Remove trigger group, magazine assembly. Remove barrel (DO NOT TWIST!!! Broken ejector is the reward) from receiver. To Remove bolt from receiver charging handle must be removed (only accomplished with barrel off) by pushing it all the way forward n' wiggling it (it's retained by the firing pin) back n' forth while keeping pressure pulling it away from the receiver. Sounds tricky, but once you've done it a few times it's nothing.
Once it's apart, clean thoroughly (I love brake cleaner) and reassemble dry. (don't lubricate the bolt, or the action). Pick a nice round nosed ammo (Mine loves CCI, Federal Champions, AE. Other CGN'ers report luck with Winchester, but I haven't had any) amd have some fun.
I forgive such heresy. I love my Remingtons and many others, but Rugers are no longer tolerated on the premises.
