savage model 720 16 gauge not firing

I have a savage model 720 in 16 gauge and it does not fire. The firing pin is not contacting the primer. Just wondering if there is any common problems that i should be aware of. I had the gun apart and couldn't see anything physicaly wrong.

Broken pin or just alot of heavy grease/shellac in the old action. I would remove the stock and give the action a good flush with brake cleaner. Then re lube the dry spots. If that doesn't free it up then I think it has a broken pin.
