LawrenceN, the one thing you should do when asking for values is describe prececely the condition of the gun, a pic would go a long way in showing the gun as is. The other thing to describe precisely is the condition of the bore and anything that is not readily apparent.
I bought one last year for $250 but that was all it was worth, mine had cracks in the tang and forend, metal was well worn, rear sight missing but aside from that all the metal was original and the bore was very good so I got what I thought was a deal because I put some work into the stock and it is acceptable to take into the field now. Originality is also important if it has been drilled and tapped for scope or had sling studs attached this will detract from it's value. The ammo you are getting is really a prize because old original ammo of any brand is hard to find. It is a great walking rifle and pretty powerfull for it's caliber. Another thing with the takedowns is the fit of barrel to reciever, it should be tight and wobble free BEFORE the forend is attached.
