If you are talking about 1899 / 99 there was a total of 15

The 1899 was produced in 7 / 8
22 hp
25-35
250-3000

The 300 sav started in 1920 and that is the generally accepted date from the Model 1899 being change to the Model 99 so the 300 can be classified either way.

Hope this helps!

Ya, they are a bit of a passion with me. I started out trying to get each of the savage calibers, 303 sav, 300 sav, 22 hp and 250-3000 and my collection blossomed from there. Very interesting rifles, less expensive to collect than winchesters and more variations.

It must be hard to come by a 250-3000 If you know where I might find one let me know Ive been trying to do the same except all mine were my Grandfathers trapline rifles he did not have a 300 savage or the 250-3000 but he did have some 303s, 22hp,30-30 and 308 that like you I feel for them fair bit the 22hp is probably the fav in the safe right now which is saying alot for a 100 year old gun

I bought a half-decent one in .250-3000 at Milarm here in Edmonton, and they had another in the racks there. Mine needed an entire new stock, so it was priced accordingly, but the other one seemed to be in good shape, and it has been there for some time, so you can check there next time you're in the city.
Savage 99s are definitely addictive; I started with my grandfather's .300 Savage, and then I found a nice one in .308, which my wife liked so much that she has claimed it. Now I have the .250, and I don't intend to stop. Next on my list is a .38-55, if I can find one......

Savage 99's....

You only "need" a pre-mil Model 99F in .308, though.... :p

250 300 savage

Gunco in Ottawa had a 250 savage in a 99 take down 2 weeks ago. I don't have a contact # but maybe someone here can help you. There is also a 250 on a Quebec site www.lespacs.com. listed. enter carabine in search and within the last 3 weeks and you should be able to find it. NB In French only so if you can't speak the lingo maybe you can find somebody that can help you. Hope that helps your cause.

Remington and Winchester both still commercially load for the 250 sav, both in 100 grain which maybe an issue in the early 1:14 twist rifles.

Was talking to one of the lifers at WSS tonight who admitted to catching the 99 fever.
Picked up a solid frame 250, and two 1899B's from 1904 and 08 in 303 and 38-55. He's just lucky the 38-55 wasn't a C or I'd had followed him home and not left his couch till he sold it to me.
I have zero luck finding decent SVGs........

I just became reinfected with the savage 1899 bug recentlyand found three ineresting ones over the last few months. The first was a solid frame 250 followed by a 38-55 1904 vintage and then a 303 1911 vintage. Most of these guns all seem to exhibit the same problem with the butt stocks cracked and chunks or wood missing behind the upper tang. With the help of "HotStuff" glue from Lee Valley Tools I have become pretty proficient at restoring the original stocks to usable if not handsome looking pieces. You don't see wood like they used 100 years ago anymore.

PS.... Noel, You would have to fight the dog and the grand kid for a spot on the couch. If you feel brave, bring beer and pizza.

I usually see lots of them at the HACS shows particularly at the Kamloops show in April. Saw a few of them at the Maynards auction in April but a Winnie 1894 38-55 followed me home first. I load so not likely a problem. I am looking for a 250 as well. Besides that they are leftie friendly. My 99c 308 is a dream to shoot and barely broken in yet was made in '64. My gain.
