Good day. I was looking at a Enfeild at a gun store for 195.00. It has no stock atop the barrel so It looks to be sporterized. The action is a No.4 Mk1* with a S in front of that. But the barrel is a Parker and Hale with BD .303 on the side and 2.222. There is no bolt release at the back of the reciver. You have to push it up at the front. I could only find one other like it and it was said to be a older target model. The barrel also has 2 grooves. It is in very mint shape blueing wise and the wood is too for what is there. I know it is hard to say without pics but I was woundering if anybody could tell me of the rifle and mabey if it is a fair price or a rip.

Thanks

"....303 on the side and 2.222..." That was done by Parker Hale in England. They 'sporterized'/rebuilt lots of No. 4's. It have the standard 'ladder' style rear sight or the two position, 'flip' type, battle sight?
"...no bolt release at the back of the reciever..." That makes it a No. 4 Mk I as opposed to a Mk I*. Savage made them before the change.

Well - It aint likely a "target" rifle, just a sporter refurb done by Parker Hale. However, they generally shoot pretty good, as PH were better than the average bub... PH made their sporters in various grades, so its worth anywhere from 125 to 250$.
