Have any of you converted a Savage over to a PPC head sized cartridge. I have re-barrelled a 223 stevens over to 7.63x39 and opened up the bolt face, but was not able to get the 223 extractor worked down correctly to function with the PPC sized case.

I HAD ordered an entire PPC bolt head from Sharp Shooters supply but of course because they don't ship to Canada any more I am s**t out of luck along with the stock, recoil lugs an all the other parts I have payed for.

I may just have to get a bunch of 223 extractors and grind them down untill I get one right.

Any other ways to get PPC sized cases to extract?

If Savages x39 is based off the 223 bot head it would work for me. If it is based off the 308 family bolt head it would work on the 308 bolt head only, as the spring is drilled in different locations on the 2 different sized bolt faces.

I will try another 223 extractor and get it to work. The one I did is sooo close but I took a bit to much metal off and got to close to the ball groove. I fired 60 rounds through it this morning with 100% extraction. If you chamber a round and don't fire it it will not extract, as the extractor gets hung up on the ball. When you fire it the recoil jiggles it in to place and surprisingly worked every time... Damm about .003 to much metal taken off.

Jerry, will you have a stock for the new screw space center feed short actions?? The stock on the one I am using is the worst stock I have ever used. If you put any pressure on it at all ( and I mean the smallest amount) the gun shoots horribly. If I set it in a sled, and don't touch it at all, (except for my trigger finger) the dam thing shoots good. I have never seen a gun so touchy in all my life. It did it as a 223 and does it as a x39 now too!!

try stretching the extractor spring, I have found that they are usually the week link in the first case

If you paid for something that they can't or won't bring to Canada regardless of the reason you need to contact them for a full refund. Any business that takes your money on the US side and fails to get your stuff to you and doesn't refund has got a problem. It's their fault only and not yours. Always ask this question. If it gets stuck on your side of the border do I get a full refund? If they don't say yes then don't work with them. I hear these stories constantly.
