Anyone use thie Savage Axis 2 in MDT chassis? I am looking at this or a 783 and adding a Oryx or MDT.

I got 5k .223 55gr sitting here with no gun to shoot. BTW, only looking at shooting some targets/steel at 100 yards.

I've never touched this particular unit, but I do have an axis 2 I picked up at cabelas years ago on sale. I can say it is the most accurate rifle I own and not as finicky on ammo as my xbolts.

If you're only shooting at 100yds you don't need anything that fancy. I love my axis as a $300 hunting rifle. I wouldn't spend 4 times that on one regardless of what chassis they slap it in.

If your only goal is to burn through all that 556 I would be looking at a semi. I would suspect 5k rounds of mediocre ammo is going to get mighty old in a bolt gun.

Man they didn't even put a bigger bolt knob on it? Lol my biggest complaint about the axis, and the only reason I'm not buying another, is the fact that the bolt lift is quite stiff. A bit more leverage would really help.

Tested a few Axis a few years back... they did not impress. Low rd count, beater rifle that goes bang, have at it.

For high rd count with high precision potential, I have gone 783

I have used many older Savage 10/110s and still have an F class rifle set up with one of these older actions. Was a big Savage fan... not so much these days

I have a SS axis 7-08 that I'm pretty impressed with as far as accuracy goes.

I've also got a 783 7mag that I'm extremely impressed with as far as accuracy goes...maybe I just lucked out on loading for this rifle but it out shoots pretty much all my other hunting rifles and I got it on sale for like 350.00 and bedded it into a boyds laminate for like another 175.00...:)
