Hey everyone,

So, I'm new to the site, and can't post in or read the equipment exchange posts.

I bought the Savage PC in .308 with the terrible bolt release in front of the trigger guard. Well, I want the MDT tac21 chassis , but it only works with the side bolt release. So my question is, can I Get a gunsmith (if you know any great ones within Edmonton, lemme know,) convert it back to a side bolt release?
I did some digging and they say that by ordering a side bolt release/sear, from Savage and having the right rear side machined down, it can easily be done.

If anyone has any experience, advice or work around for this, please let me know.

I wonder why MDT hasn't made something for these styles.

I have a 10 FCPK with front bolt release and it fits fine in the TAC 21 chassi. I tried to get the parts and have the side milled and no one wants to do it. all the savage gunsmith I emailed are useless.. Some even told me that it couldn't be done. So I guess the people on sniper's hide are lying to us...

Its a freaking joke that I cant just buy the parts myself.

Can you explain, please? How? Is there room for the trigger bolt release in the chassis? Details!! You restored my hope, and reversed my buyers remorse! Lol

So that's the only thing? I was under the impression it wouldn't work at all, so how much did you file it down. And was it a simple task? Sorry for all the questions, but I have yet to modify any of mine. Until I seen the MDT. So just wanna be sure of what I am getting in to, before I order.

With the tac21, the bolt is staying in the gun. Regardless, unless I take it apart for a detailed cleaning.

"...precision carbine..." That is an oxymoron.
"...and can't post in or read..." It's only for buying and selling. Post this on the gunsmith forum.

That's what they called it. I don't work in their marketing department.

I was going to search for a gunsmith selling side releases/sears. I'll follow your map, and find One-Eyed Willy's treasure. Thanks for the advice!
