Hi Folks,

I've got one of these beauties on it's way to me... :)

I'm thinking that the best way to go for a scope is a Bushnell 3200 Elite 10X...at least for now.

Anyway...really looking forward to it!!!

Jeff/1911.

The Bushy 10x is a good starter scope. You will grow out of it pretty fast. If you find one for about 200 on the EE you could sell it again for the same amount later.

Lots of good reviews and happy precision carbine owners.

3200 10x Tac is missing an AO/side focus option. Most peoples sell them after a while for mainly that reason, I did.
Like mr Peanut said too.

I have a Bushnell 5-15x40AO on my PC and it seems to work good so far, but It is harder to resolve targets at long distances

I would have put more money into the scope but at the time it was all I could afford... I think Frontier Firearms still has a few in stock for $419

Congrats on the rilfe! Get a bigger scope if you can!

lol tell your friend nice shooting in that temp ! what was the range and ammo type? 100y?

The 10x is perfect if you want to use you mil dots for bullet drop instead of getting lost in dialing the turret for all your ranges. for example, Im zeroed at 600y, this makes my top flat mil my 100y aim point, 3/4 my 200, 1.5 my 300y ect... im good all the way to 900 and when i shoot at 1000y i than dial in 12mils and bottom flat is bang on. Unless your reticule is sized different like on the bushnell 4200 @ 12x zoom. the 3.6" @ 100 is key. If you have the $$$ you can buy a scope with a front focal plane witch will zoom in the reticule along with the target so you can zoom right in and still use your mil dots.

Even at 1000y a 10" target @ 10x is roughly the size of one dot (1 dot @ 1/4mil will be 9"). This is were the 3200 dies with such thick cross hairs. but like said, its a great starter scope. The ones with the features people drool over are like $1400 starting and on sale..... but there sweet.

If I was single ide have a Mark 4 10x40mm LR/T M1 with TMR

but instead im stuck with a 6x24x50 elite 4200 mil dot that I have locked at 12x ( bushnells reticule is sized at 12x instead of 10x witch is kinda nice.)

God I love shooting.

just picked up a new (to me) Savage .308 Precision Carbine myself! put a box of federal 150's (cheap stuff) thru it first, 5 shots was grouping a little over an inch and a half. I then switched to some winchester super-x 180's.... ya they suck... i was all over the place, put them away early out of frustration.

so i brought out my first box of Federal GMM.... cloudy day and the sun had just set, light was crap! it was a mild winter day probably around 0 give or take a degree. my first 5 shot group had 3 shots touching @ 1/4", 4th was a little over 1" total... and the 5th was a flyer a good 2" low... figured i would try one more group before leaving.

keep in mind this is my first ever attempt at precision shooting, and i've held my PAL for a little over a year.

second group of 5 had me floored! these things can SHOOT! i'll let the pics do the talking :D (sorry for the BS cell phone pics )

scope is a vortex viper 6.5-20x50 with leupold rings and bases (2 pc)

shot from a soaking wet bench @ 100yards from a caldwell sandbag.

my only gripe is the stock... fits like crap from the bench, hopefully a choate tactical is in its future.

what a fun rifle! cant wait to stretch its legs out!

Mine is now here...it's a used one with a rail on top and the stock is painted black. I'll get some pictures up soon, with my 3-9 Leupold mounted on it.

I just came back from my first outing with the Savage PC. It shoots very well indeed. :) Moreover, it did so w/ everything I put through it - all factory ammunition. I am very impressed.

If you find your way here we will have to get some of the local shooters and take a trip out to a spot like this for a few shots at 1025+ yards:D

Hey man...I'm using one of your pics of your rifle setup at Seddon's corner as my computer desktop...I really miss Manitoba.
