I'm considering a Savage Pup for my daughters first shooting experience. She is 10. I think it's time she learns about shooting.

I would like some feedback on these Youth shooters. Is loading easy? Action move easy? Accurate? Loading shorts any diferent from Long or LR?

I like the peep sights. They should be easy to understand and learn with but are they okay for 25m shots?

If it turns out she likes shooting I might just paint it pink if I can't find a pink one for her. :) There is one on the EE for $150 I might take if I see some good feedback otherwise I'd love some other recommendations on other single shot .22's.

Do you mean the Savage Cub? They are excellent! We have several at the club for use by the Juniors-section as starter rifles. Some have bipods and 3x9x32AO scopes, others have redots, a few with factory peeps.

They are accurate, robust, easy to use and clean and dead reliable. Loading is simple, drop the round in the port, close the bolt. Plus, they have the accutrigger.....outstanding.

Really, you'll be surprised at just how good these little rifles are.

I picked one up for my wife last year to introduce her to shooting. She's a tad under 5 ft. so most "adult" rifles are just too big and heavy for her.
Fits her great and she loves shooting it. Very well built, simple to use and damn accurate.
You might want to pick up some different peep inserts as the one with the rifle was too small for her (maybe it's just the old gal's eyes :p). I have the same peeps on my Marlin and just swapped it for a larger one which she likes.
Biggest problem your daughter will have is stopping you from borrowing it all the time. :D
