Savage $$$ Question

Hey,

Well I know nothing about Savages, so here goes my story. I have a buddy that has had one in his closet for years. I took down the writing on it in hope someone can let me know what it's worth.

This is what's written on it:

30-30
Savage 1899
"High pressure steel"
Octagon barrel
Serial # 108898
Pat. Feb 7, 1893 July 25, 1893
Oct 3, 1899, May 25, 1909, June 21,1909

It is in so so shape. it's been sitting for awhile and is a little pitted.

Can anyone help me out with it?

It's a Savage Model 1899, built in 1910 or thereabouts. In so-so shape it'll be worth between $350 and $500, I'd think. A slight premium because of the octagonal barrel. MadDog will know.
Shooting jacketed bullets in a slightly pitted barrel usually works okay.
