Savage Rail issues?

I'm double checking everything on my new savage rifle. The last screw that holds the rail in place kinda bugs me. It doesn't sit flush with the other 3 screws and isn't seated nearly as deeply. It seems to be interupted by the scew on barrel design and so the screw can't go in any deeper.

Any thoughts how to solve this? I need to shop for a shorter screw? Surprised it didn't come from the factory with one!?

It is bottoming out on the barrel threads. Did the base come with one shorter screw? If not then file one down to fit. I normally put one in soft jaw in the vise and file it down to the desired length.

some rifles/rails, the front screws will be different lengths vs the rear screws. Its not unusual for people to mix up the screws when installing. Id take them all out and compare the lengths.

also check if the recoil lug is proud of the receiver , I know that the muzzleloaders had this problem and the scope base need to have a relief cut where it overlapped the lug.
