What is the difference between the model 10fp and the 12fv? I am looking at getting one or the other in .223 so the rifling is the same and they seem to have the same unimpresive stock. So why is the model 10 $50 more for a 2" shorter barrel?
Not much difference other than cosmetics. The 10FP is a matte blued finish with a black bolt and the 12FV is a gloss blued finish with a shiny bolt. The 10FP has an extra sling mounting stud up front but personally I would get an aftermarket stock. You already mentioned the shorter barrel on the 10FP.
I was looking at those two rifles as well, I went with the 12FV. It came with a longer barrel and the finish didn't matter too much to me so I went with the cheaper of the two rifles. Like you had mentioned both stocks are kinda garbage haha, so the extra stud didn't sway my decision. 12FV's seem to be very hard to find in stock, I'm not sure if it's the same way with the 10FP, I'm still waiting for mine.
the 12fvss , 26" barrel, seems to be the choice for target shooters and they are harder to find. i got mine a year or so ago..like new "used"..still paid a good price, but have not regretted the purchase as it shoots great at targets up to 1000yards. a person "grows" into the stock, main issue being no warpage .
Got the BVSS and really like the laminate stock. Got a muzzle break on it and it is very very sweet to shoot. I like wood stock much better than the factory synthetics. Worth the bit of extra coin
they are pretty much the same action the only differance is one has a matte finish the other has a glossy finish and has the opeion of stainless steel
now if you want it for varmint hunting the tactical has an advantage as it's not shiny i also the fluting on the heavy barreled stainless models is useless from what i have heard and it isn't worth the price worth the price your better off buying stainless sporter action and having the trigger upgraded if you want the 1.5 lbs pull and put a custem barrel on it and have a custem stainless bolt nob put on to make operating the bolt easyer
the fluting from most accounts is margonal at reducing weght and is two shallow to ad surface for cooling
