Hey all, I was just reading the post by little boy left and got to wondering. I looked at Savage's website but I can't seem to tell the difference between the 12 fv and the 10 fp. Now I know that the 10fp is for law enforcment but is there a difference in accuracy between them???

The difference I see is, the 10FP has a 20" or 24" barrel and comes in .223 or .308 caliber. The 20" barrel is only available in .308. The 12FV has a 26" barrel and comes in .223, 22-250, .243, .308, and .204. The 10FP has a Matte blued barrel, and the 10FV has a blued barrel. I'm not sure but I believe the Matte barrel reflects less light. Also the 10FP has a 3rd swivel for a tripod and the 10FV does not. I don't have either but plan on getting the 10FP myself.
I can't say any thing about the accuracy of them.

i shoot a 12FV in 204, the accuracy with handloads is between .3 and .45 inches depending on the bullet weight. 5 shot 100 yard groups that are repeatable.

I also have a 12FV in .223Rem.... I don't reload and get some pretty impressive results with factory loads... Great rifles... you'll be happy with either, but I would imagine you'll like the stock on the new 10FP's better than the 12FV factory stock

I have the 10 FLP, best group to date is 0.330 and its repeatable. Handloaded ammo of course, I've never shot any of the factory Match ammo so I have no opinion on that stuff.

The stock is somewhat lacking, but it works.

Overall very happy with this rifle.

Are you talking about the standard factory stock on the 10FP? Have they improved them? I have heard that they are not very good and should be switched out with better stocks.

Well the stock on my 12FV was kinda cheap feeling... it was functional... it still produced good groups and the barrel was free floated... but just felt flimzy... I ended up putting a Bell and Carlson medalist stock on mine... I don't think you'll find much difference between the two rifles when it comes to barrel & action, trigger, etc... just the stock, calibre, barrel length and finish... and probably price...

Savage 10FP

I obtained a single hole grouping fro 5 round with hand loads. The stock my FP came with is a Choate varmint stock. 26” bulled barrel. The rifle is a tack driver. I have not been able to repeat the same grouping, but I regular shoot under .3”
