I looked at some Savage rimfires today, and spotted a heavy barreled stainless/synthetic .22 WMR that was priced lower than the rest. Then I noticed that most of them were marked as Mk IIs, while the .22 WMR was not.

What are the differences? Has anyone here had experience with the Savage .22 WMRs, in either (or both) the earlier versions and/or the Mk.IIs? How well do they shoot - do they have the same reputation for accuracy that the Savage centerfires have?

Good solid performers in the price range they sell at. Very accurate and the newer ones have the accu trigger option as standard. The mark II's are the old lake field mossberg patent that Savage acquired. The rifles chambered in .22 WMR and .17 HMR are built a little more solid in places. I use the .22 mag on the trapline and it is a good no nonsense rifle. I would highly recommend that you try one.
P.S. I don't work for savage.

cheers Darryl

Don't have one in .22 Winmag but I have a Mark II in .22 and I love it. Granted the trigger isn't the greatest but there are aftermarket triggers out there or mods that I can do if I ever get sick of it. Accuracy is pretty good (have the slim barrel on mine) and I wouldn't hesitate to get another Savage.
