Hi!

So I bought a used savage axis to build my sister a hunting rifle since my target rifles are too heavy. I believe it to be an axis II based on the stock style. It came with a trigger upgrade so IDK if it ever had an accutrigger.

problem: it has came with two piece weaver base and I require a 1 piece picatinny base.. Now I have read some very conflicting stuff all over the internet some saying that certain rails will fit any short action savage and some that only certain rails will fit etc etc.

my question is this: The only one I can find online is labelled savage axis with no additional information is from Canada ammo and it's $27.99 but the shipping is $25... I'm wondering if anyone can shed light on the truth to the compatibility of 110 or 10 rails to my axis.

help!

For a hunting rifle you will not go astray with leupold windage bases and zee rings on the axis. Same size fits the 10/110 receiver.
I found many times over that the centering of drill holes is suspect and to get the best out of your scope that going old school still has its place. Otherwise, do not be surprised to see a lot a lateral adjustment to get on target. My 2c.

I own 3 Magwedge 1 piece scope mounts and I am very impressed by the quality. My picatinny scope mounts fit on his rails perfectly.
