Savage scout 110 stainless 308 muzzle brake removal question

want to change the muzzle brake. Its got red locktite on it...willing to torch it/ brake cleaner soften it and remove with wrench only if it doesn't mark up any component of the rifle.

I've got wrenches and torch, no vise.


Anyone done this?

I have never removed one without a vice and soft jaws.

I was able to remove mine with torch, a wrench and my “grip” wearing mechanix gloves.

Make some shaped wood blocks to clamp the barrel in a vice. Wrap the barrel in a single layer of masking tape. If you see any signs of slippage, stop.
