Savage stock mods????

i havent done that but depending on what you want to use it for i made a realy nice and stable bench rest stock by filling the forend with shot making shure that it wouldnt stick up into out of the cavity then mixed up some fiberglass resin and filled it make shure if it has a bend you straighten the stock before fiberglassing it appoxie a metal rod at the tip of it so it is solid and drive a wedge at the other end to force it straight mine had a slight bend in it
get extra hardening compound for the fiberglass if you are going that route and dont do it in your kitchen youll be stunk out for 2 days lol fill 1/4 inch max at a time give it 1 to 2 hours to harden then do another layer if you have the patience do 1/8 of an inch for best results if you shoot from a bench it cant be to heavy to get hole throught hole results i also filled the but of the stock with resing no shot to keep better front ballance to back heaby and you will still get muzzle rise enought to throw a point or two off your score

Yeah I've done it... worked very well. What I did was get a can of "NON-expanding" foam insulation and a cup full of #2 lead shot... I inserted the straw into the butt stock right up to the grip area... I gave it a little shot of foam and then sprinkled in some lead shot, another shot of foam and some more lead shot... I kept going until the butt stock was full... it over expands some as the foam dries... wait until it is hard the trim it away with a sharp knife (I used an OLFA blade)... reinstall the recoil pad and you`re off to the races... by sprinkling in the shot, instead of inserting a sock full (etc...) the stock has much better balance and feel... the gun definitely feels more solid afterward.

What kind of stock did you do this on?
I wasn't aware that there was non-expanding foam
Do you mind telling me what brand it was and where you got it?
Did you block off the stock at the grip?
Thanks for your help
