I just got a Savage model 11 with the synthetic stock. The stock is very flimsy in the forend.

I'm thinking of roughing up the forends cavities and filling them with JB Weld to try and stiffen it up.

Anyone else?

2 part epoxy with a couple of pieces of aluminium arrow shaft from the front of the receiver lug to the forend tip.

needed weight in another one so used a combination of lead shot and epoxy.

worked fine as the forend became one solid mass.

Been there done that. It certainly helped with stiffening up the stock and taking the hollowness out of it. Added a bit of weight to it too.

Timing- I have one curing now. A Rem. plastic, ground the checkering and filled it, put an alum. arrow thru the forend into the recoil lug. I did a Vanguard last week but used an aluminum ski pole and lite weight bondo. Never done a Savage, but can't be a lot different. Should be ready for sand and paint. Mark

I masked the stock with aluminum tape and filled the bottom of the channel with long strand fiberglass resin. (Yes, I left the recoil lug area alone. It's pillar bedded already and if he wants the action bedded, there's room to do it.)
