Savage Target Action

After I spent hours collecting mis-information from all over the internet on how the bolt-spacing works out on the STA's, someone finally posted an explanation here on CGN a while back. From memory, it's:
- dual port action = 3.44" bolt spacing
- single port action (Right bolt, left or right port) = 4.4" bolt spacing

No idea why the discrepancy in spacings for the dual vs single ports, but I hope this is helpful.

I have a single port action right bolt left port with 3.44 spacing so no the single port is not always 4.4 spacing.

Last time a talked to someone at savage they called the 3.44 spacing the Palma spacing it's the newer design and eventually the target actions will be 3.44

I'm curious about the availability / cost of a Savage target action only (red accu-trigger) in Canada. Are they available? I don't even know where to start looking for one...

Also, has anyone ever seen one come up for sale second hand? If so, what should I expect to pay for a second hand one if I managed to find one?

I have called Boyd's, they do not carry a stock for model 12's BR. I bought mine directly from Savage, I think it was around $350.
I have a large nut, 29" and 30" .308 heavy stainless barrels with about 2K rounds, still good, but far from new.

Last time I priced these actions they were running around $800 new, for what its worth you could throw a couple more bucks in the pot and get a much better action. IMO
