Savage trigger options?

Just bought my first rifle today. It's a Savage Mark II GL .22lr, it doesn't have the accutrigger though. The trigger its self has some lateral play, is this normal? Can an accutrigger be retrofitted to it? What other options do I have?

The accutrigger is not interchangeable. You can, however, shim the trigger. There is an excellent write-up on rimfirecentral in the savage section. I also have a pre-accutrigger Savage, the trigger job I mentioned works very well.

other options for the savage are to go with a rifle basix replacement trigger. they make one for your gun too. i just replaced the accutrigger in my .17hmr last night! i havn't had a chance to go to the range but i have a feeling i'm going to love it!

check out there website. http://www.riflebasix.com/savage.html looks like the SAV-R is the one you would need. ordering them from rifle basix is easy to do over the internet and it ships out same day as you order. i recieved mine 1 week after i ordered it. i will be writing up a full review/report with my trigger replacement.

Looks like by reading rimfirecentral's thread Rifle Basix trigger is the way to go. Now I just need to get out and put some lead down range.
