Savage Trophy Hunter mag vs Axis

Hi Guys,

hoping someone else has run into this situation...

I have a Savage Model 11 Trophy Hunter package in .243, looking to buy a second mag for it...the mag that came with the gun has the release latch on it

now....on Midway's site I ordered a mag that was listed for Model 11 FC in that caliber group, BUT I didn't compare the picture as closely as I should have and when it came, the release latch was not on the mag

Savage uses the FC to designate synthetic stock (F) and clip (C)

so although it is a Model 11 Trophy Hunter FC......it seems that a mag for a Model 11FC doesn't fit

seems like a really odd thing - to my knowledge the only thing that makes it a "Trophy Hunter" is the addition of a scope to make it a package gun

after all that, the mag that I can see for sale for a Savage Axis looks exactly the same as the Trophy Hunter......anybody know if they are fully compatible ?

I don't see a mag listed for Trophy Hunter
 
Yes, there is three different mag configurations for the model 10's and 11's.

There is the model 10/110C and 11/111C for the side release "button", the model 10/110FC and 11/111FC for the bottom release "latch" and the model 10/110GC and 11/111GC for the bottom release "button". Doesn't have anything to do with stock composition, simply the release location.
