Hi all,
I am thinking about getting a bolt 22 that will be accurate. Currently have a Marlin micro groove 22 and there must be
more accurate 22 s
I know the CZ's are well loved but how is the Savage ( the TRR SR ) in comparison.
I dont know if the savage is the same basic gun as the BTVS MKII
Thanks for any info.

Cz. Its not an option even for me. Cz is better fit, finish, and for me way more accurate. Best I would wring out of my savage 22's at 50 yards was .75 to 1". That was with 4 or 5 different guns and 6 or so different kinds of ammo.
My cz will shoot right around .5" with cheap ammo and in the .3" with target ammo. Another good option is a zastava. I had 2 and should have kept them both as they shot like a cz for a lot less.

I don't think either gun is any more accurate than the other. What you pay for with the CZ is an heirloom quality walnut stock and buttery smooth action. There are LOTS of videos on YouTube if guys with mark2 TR and mark2 TRR-SR doing some amazing accurate long distance shots, so despite what CZ lovers say, I don't think it is any more accurate than the Savage. Buy the gun you like better. I'm loving my Mark2 TR.

Savage make good barrels and ok guns.

CZ makes fantastic barrels and fantastic guns.

If the price is any where close (which it is in the OP's case), CZ everyday and twice on Sunday.

I think the bottom of the line savages are good values because of their barrels and decent accuracy......but once you get into the $400-600 mark or equal price of a cz, you get a much more attractive and better made rifle for the same price with the cz. Although savages are pretty accurate and some are very accurate, I think there are more examples of mediocre to poor accuracy with savages than with cz.

I have both and the CZ's has a lot more quality built in and that is what you are paying for! I have three CZ's and two Savage Mark II's and they are all accurate or I won't keep them.
BUT, if you want to talk accuracy let's discuss my Annie 54's that is a whole other story and accuracy cost money. JMHO

The average Savage is every bit as accurate as the average CZ... I have owned and shot both for decades... with CZ you get a nicer fit and finish.

Thanks for the replys,
I thought CZ might win. I do like the Savage feel and looks though.
(got a B Mag for Christmass youd think that would disuade me :( )
Im going to check CZ prices, no one in town handles them in any quantity so its hard to compare.

I foolishly sold a Ruger SR 22 that shot 1 9/16" 10 shot groups @ 100m with CCI ammo
And I find it hard to grasp why my Marlin BOLT gun struggles to evan get close!!
Thanks

There's a few for a good price on the ee. Buy one, and if you don't like it, sell it. If you're doing bench, the varmint is nice. I even use a 453 varmint in the field a lot for gophers.
If you want to drive 9 hours, you can come down and try some of mine.

I've owned both and if anything my savage was more accurate but it was the FVT target model. Sub MOA with peeps was easy at 50m with good ammo. My Cz 452 scout was a nicer rifle, and nearly as accurate, but again rifles vary on an individual basis in regard to accuracy.

I'd say they both have the same potential accuracy, but agreed Cz is a nicer fit and finish and just feels more like a real solid rifle. The savage to me felt a bit cheap and the aesthetics of the barrelled action were kind of boring.

I have the CZ and that's one rifle that I'll have when I die, it's beautiful, I should add I have an old Stevens Savage that I'll never part with either.
