I bought a Savage Model 12 VLP in .223.
I had ordered one in single shot but couldn,t stand waiting
any longer(almost 3 months) and bought one with the internal mag.
I put in a High Score single shot follower and am very pleased.
I am a handgun lover first of all but wanted a rimfire rifle and a centerfire
for the range.
I bought a CZ 452 Varmint for 22LR .
I've been testing out loads for the Savage.
I'm using H335 because I'm loading on a Dillon 650 and wanted a good metering powder.
I started with Hornady 55gr.bullets....disappointing.
Sierra 69gr.Matchkings HPBT.....oh yeah baby.
Tried Hornady 68gr. Match HPBT........disappointing.
So far I think I'll stick with the Sierras.
My best 5 shot 100yd.group so far is 3/8 in.
I know I can do better.
This rifle is heavy, but I'll just be shooting it off the bench.
For an out of the box factory rifle,I am very pleased.

Very nice gun and I have heard and read lots of good things about it. I too was considering it (almost put the order in too), but I really hesitated on the weight. I ended up going with another make.

Sweet looking gun. Have fun!

Should I say it...why not...out of the box, for the money (and often for more money), you'd be hard pressed to beat a Savage. Here's mine.

By the way, sweet looking setup you got there. I like the wood furniture.
