Savage vs Stevens - any difference?

Are the actions and barrels interchangeable?
Recently picked up a nice Boyds MKII stock on the EE and need a gun for it.
Would like something different than .22LR, maybe a .17 or 22 magnum.
Was wondering if one of those short barrel Stevens would fit?

As far as I know, it's all owned by the same company... I think maybe Stevens is the "budget" version (kind of like Fender and Squire), but it should be the same thing. But, don't quote me on that... I'm sure someone else will know better.
