Savage w/ poly choke

So theres this guy I know who has a 1970s savage pump 12 ga with a poly choke on it. he says he'll give it to me for free, but it jams on the third round. he got it jammed reall bad back in november, and he says it needs to see a gunsmith. dont ming taking it since its free, but i dont know if its worth it. anybody got expeirience with this gun?

I'm purchasing a similar shotgun made by Stevens (essentially the same gun) and have an uncle who had the Savage version, namely the Model 30.

I cannot comment about your gun, but Numrich does carry replacement parts. An old Consumer Reports guide from 1972 lists the Savage as one of their "best buys." It should be a decent hunting shotgun, and the Savage Choke makes it far more versatile for most upland hunting conditions that you'll encounter in Southern Ontario.
