hey this one has popped up on the radar- 20 inch 308 adjustable lop an maybe cheek piece?!

i think we are going to feel one of these and look into them!
the lightweight storm stainless version, in a 308-- weight looks good, barrel length and adjustability!

whats the gist on cgn about these ones?

The Savage Lightweight Stainless Storm is a gorgeous rifle indeed! Very accurate and easy to maneuver.

However, if you are still looking for a compact rifle for your bride, this rifle in 308 is going to spank her! And I do not mean in a good way......LOL

A 7mm-08 or a 6.5 Creedmoor in the same platform would be more ideal.

The name Lightweight means just that, not heavy enough to soak up recoil. If you get her a ladies recoil pad to wear on her clothing, this helps substantially. My wife has a small to medium stature. She wears one, it reduces recoil by approximately 30%.

I hope this helps......:)

Very light! Mine is a 6.5 Creedmoor. Doesn't kick much since the recoil pad is fairly soft. Looks to be adjustable for LOP but I haven't bothered to touch that since it fits me fine out of the box.

I added a metal trigger guard/bolt release, mine was cracked out of the box. Savage sent me a new one, but I found that Boyd's offers a metal replacement so I bought that instead.

With Burris bases, TPS lightweight rings, and an Athlon 2-12x42 scope. Not heavy all-up even if the scope is a few ounces over a basic 3-9x40.

Hey mate, agree , but what we done is down load some 150gr SP to about 30-30 spec.. suited well for 250m an under an less recoil for sure!!
Thanks for both the info here gents

What a great idea!

I never really thought about that as I run most calibers near the maximum levels.

I believe Hornady also makes recoil sensitive ammunition in 308 Winchester as well.

Cheers!….:)

Yea I own a lightweight storm in 308 and can confirm that it kicks like a mining mule.

Once you figure out how to shoot it and give it a bedding job it’s fantastic. I do almost all my hunting with one.

Yea if anyone has one of these awful rifles that they want to dispose of DM me.

I wouldn’t put heavy stuff on a purpose built lightweight rifle. It’s not designed to shoot long range or be a tactical rifle.

Lastly I will add that the lightweight storm does not have an adjustable cheek riser. Only length of pull. The stock comb design is such that the rifle tends to hop when fired. At least mine did. I do not recommend them for shooters who are even remotely recoil shy. Pad or not.

dont have to put so much pepper in it .... ha.
we are running a 150gr load at 2400fps , so that tames them down a bit.

good on the LOP, no drama on cheek weld, will need to hold one but none locally--- all good thank you

Well if you ever feed it too much and it bites you, you know who to get ahold of. :p

Glad you made it work for you! In my opinion with a little bit of work they are good rifles.
