My father inlaw and i saw a Grizz Northwest of Robb today. It was about 70 yards walking away from us on a trail. It turned back to look at us and did a wheelie and took off in the bush. Awesome!!! Coincedently it was about 100 yards from where my four year old took this pic of me. Only diff is now there is 12" of snow. I was fumbling for my camera and didn't get it out in time.:(

Big critters aren't they?

Gatehouse will tell you that there is a grizz behind every tree waiting to pounce on you - and there are a heck of a lot of trees behind you in that pic! :p

.....................It looked amazing against the pure white backdrop of the trail. My father inlaw was a Fish and Wildlife officer in BC years ago and sure enjoyed seeing that sucker!!!:D

Never gets old running into Big Yogis:cool:
I never got a Pic of the 1st grizzer I ran into either:redface:
The Camera was the last thing on my mind;)

One fellah we hunted Moose with this year went back to try and fill his tag, west of Grande Cache. He and a friend found two grizzlies walking toward them on a cutline. While deciding which way to go, the bears split up into the bush. They decided to wait but the bears came back out on the line, this time a whole lot closer!
They decided they had had enough and pulled out of there in a hurry.
Nice bear, nice Bear.......:runaway:

Where is Crazy Davey, he's had plenty of good scares the past couple years too.:(

Glad to hear he was going the other way Mark, it would be real neat to be able to observe these big boys without them wanting to taste you.:)

This year we have seen a sow with two cubs, another with one and what looked like a bore on his own. The sow with two cubs was 59 yards away. After she left I used my range finder on a rock beside which she had been standing. She was huffing and clicking her teeth at us while my son was taking pictures with my 35mm camera. That camera is good for close ups and scenery shots but not great for 59yd pictures. My wife put the pictures on our computer and managed to bring out enough to see what they were. I'll need her help to post the picture here so I'll get her to give me a hand when she gets home. Later.

Here is another picture of mama and one of the cubs. My son's finger was over the lens for a couple of frames but this one was taken just before they followed the road around the corner. I was watching most of the action through the scope of my 35 Whelen and my 16 year old son was clicking pictures and asking me to tell him when to drop the camera and bring up his 338. http://i128.photobucket.com/albums/p174/HUNT3506/2006grizzly2.jpg

A little guy I stalked up on near Wells, BC a few years ago. pics taken at about 40yrds. he was very nice and posed for me, of course, I had the settings wrong and they developed slightly out of focus :(

Great pics!
Haven't been in an area to have a Griz walk up on me, but I have had plenty of Black Bear run ins.
Times like this mother nature can make one feel pretty small. :D
