SBE 2 - Cycle problems

I just bought a new super black eagle 2 with the steady grip and took it to the range yesterday. I loaded up the chamber and tube with the cheap top gun ammo. When i pulled the trigger, round went off but did not cycle the next round. I did read about this same issue before but did not see if there is a way to fix this. I shot around 100 rounds and then started shooting 3.5" turkey loads. An old guy at the range also has a SBE2 and had the same issues. He said to shoot alot of heavy loads to break in the gun. We then took apart my gun and he showed me a couple spot where there were burrs that could be causing it to not cycle completely. Once in awhile it would cycle the cheap rounds but it would always cycle the 3" and 3.5" turkey loads. I took apart my gun and cleaned up all the moving parts and the grooves which the slide moves. If you guys have any further suggestions please let me know. Thank you

P.S. I love the gun but the butt pad for the steady grip is hard as a rock

What are the specs on the top gun ammo? Benelli recommends it be over 1 oz. in order to avoid cycling problems. I have the same gun and have not had any issues to date. I shoot lighter trap loads 2 3/4 " 1 7/8 oz. loads without any troubles through mine but have not tried anything smaller than that.

The inertia spring in the bolt needs a little workout to break things in. You friend gives good advice, shoot a couple boxes of 3 inch shells for break-in.

As mentioned it won't shoot really light loads such as 7/8 oz. If the 1 oz is loaded lightly that might not work either. Mine shoots 1 & 1/8 oz all day as well as any hunting load I run through it and that's fine with me.

Excellent gun.

The top gun ammo is 1 7/8 oz shot so it should have been more than enough. I oiled up the reciever in the grooves for the slide and seems to be sliding freely. I will hopefully be going to the ranch wednesday so i hope that it works.

I have one and it will also shoot 1 1/8 oz. all day, just do what the previous guys and the manual say---break in the gun with a couple of boxes of 3 inch shells.;)

Relax and be very happy that you have purchased pretty much the best semi auto shotgun on the planet. As others have said just put a few boxes of 3 inch shells through the brand new gun and it will run just fine. It cycles light loads (once broke in) better than any other semi around.
Cheers

I had the same problrm with my stoeger 2000. Not exactly the same parts as the SBE but same princable(enertia driven). After a few boxs of 3" it shoots the light stuff with no problem. I'm getting a SBE2 this summer for the 3.5" capability and fully expect to have to break it in also. Don't worry unless the problem continues.
