Was wondering what you other SBR guys are running for a muzzle brake, Iam running an AAC Single Chamber brake on my mk18, Keeps the rifle a nice length, the muzzle flash is a little ridiculous, and the forward end of the rifle gets covered in powder residue which looks like rust but it wipes off, but my issue is it makes its way under the rail onto the barrel and that's tougher to clean without removing the handgaurd each time.

so my question is what muzzle brakes are you guys running to avoid this, I would like to stay under the $200 range

here's what it looks like nice and clean

correct me if i'm wrong, but shouldn't the ports on your brake be horizontal and not vertical? I've had a ported brake before on a 10.5 and it worked great (never got dirty too). Linear comps throws everything downrange and produces a nice flame, which is fun. On my favorite AR I have a tactical/battle comp - S&J hardware and griffin armament offer them. The cut down on flash and recoil

OOPS! I just followed the package instructions, its said to have the 2 level edges where you put the wrench on at 12 and 6 positions I thought it was odd aswell, I'll turn it horizontal to combat the vertical muzzle flash and gasses. good thing I never had to shoot prone haha, Still learning this AR build game.

Had a comp on my 11.5" before but it was a light show indoors... now I have a FH but tame the recoil with Vltor A5 system.

yes! My S&J hardware linear comp produces flames like that out of my 7.5" in 7.62x39! It's loud, but doesn't hit my fellow shooters with gasses, etc. when they're beside me, which is nice after running a large ported comp. The large Miculekesque ported comps reduces all recoil, but can be nasty for someone beside you
