I'm looking for recommendations for a Remington 870 scabbard

I'd like the option to wear over the shoulder and attach to an ATV but more important is the on the person carry option

Also be interested to see photos of your set up

Thanks

I’d recommend getting a good quick adjustable sling, getting a shotgun out of a scabbard when you need it isn’t as quick in real world moments. Would be good on the atv though, or a good set of Kolpin racks. Have a look at the Vickers sling, I hike around with with a shotgun a fair bit and the Vickers is the best. If I need both hands for climbing or doing something I can sling the gun across my back or chest and sinch it up tight with the quick adjuster. Great for when you’re dragging a deer back to the road etc.

Great Idea, I'm thinking the scabbard would be good for transporting and storage ubt a sling sounds more versatile for actual use.

I put kolpin claw mounts on the quad and they’re great but a scabbard or gun boot will help keep debris and crud from getting into and all over your rifle or shotgun, Magpul has a similar sling to the Vickers but I like the Vickers more. It’s a web sling and seem more robust, I have 4-5 Vickers on guns and one Magpul if that says anything about which I like best lol.

I carry in an Eberlestock, usually my gun runner. I'm bringing a pack anyways and Eberlestock are very comfortable for long days riding. With the scabbard tucked underneath, all the weight of the pack is on the seat. Slinging on the quad puts the shotgun into your fenders if its on your back or on the tank and bouncing up at you with it in the front.

Finding a good scabbard for camping/hiking is actually tougher than I thought it would be! I ordered a VISM by NcStar to see how it fits. It'll be a relatively inexpensive mistake if it doesn't work out. The fact that it's expandable is what got me interested - Length: 29.0" - 34.75" if you unclip the folded part. I have a 41" OAL that I'm trying to encompass to keep out of the weather and out of sight so other hikers don't get upset.

try an SG with a Hogue rubberized forend into and out of a scabbard ...

when an angry bunny rabbit is staring you down ..

and you really need your SG right now or the rabbit is gonna make stew out of you.

Thread over .. and already onto practical advice like excellent slings. Ditto what supernova said. All my shotguns have BFG vickers slings.

Watch out for the angry bunnies and choosing gear that works against your requirements.
