So im interested in looking at getting a non restricted black rifle, and the SCAR interests me greatly, however it seems like I cannot find any info on if they are even coming into the country anymore, does anyone know any word on the SCAR or the ACR? Or perhaps anything similiar with a non restricted designation?

Any info would be appreciated.

the SCAR and ACR are still awaiting an FRT# from the RCMP (and its already been awhile). There are also issues with getting an export permit from the US DOS. A handful of SCARs made it into the country but have been spoken for for a LONGGGG time.

I think there is hope for the ACR (one of the board sponsors is bringing them in for about $3K).

In any case, in their current configuration (16" barrels), they would be restricted due to barrel length.

Aftermarket barrels may be available though to make it NR.

Just because one cant be "transfered" doesnt mean it can't be Sold.

Example.

Person A puts 500 down... then decides to sell it for a hefty profit to person B

Person A pretty much sells his "deposit" spot for 3 grand over cost... Person B pays person A3500$ and still has to pay dealer 2500 remainder owed on the gun.

Sold.

and the firearm is rejected and Person B loses $3000 and the dealer returns the $500 deposit to Person B :)

Try payment in full of $4,000... since last September (and that's not a typo with the correct number of zeros). Then add $1,500 worth of hard-to-find/unobtanium accessories. Assuming the RCMP lab ever gets around to issuing a classification for it, that is.

At the end of the day you'll have 1 of 29 extremely rare and sought-after next generation SCARs. With the capability of being non-restricted. I've seen HK416s and G36s go for more...

Can the person who buys it actually take it home though, or even get an ATT for it to be mailed..? Basically "posess" said rifle...?

I thought not...

But what's it really worth? Is it a $4000 gun or a $2500 gun?

What price would you put on a non-restricted AR? An XCR is a $2,500 gun; the SCAR is not an XCR - and the simple fact is it's going to be unobtanium (even more so than an HK416 or G36). The ACR, less so. The one I'd really shell out serious coin for is the Beretta ARX160.
