Scar

heresy or not, this is a VERY troubling matter....aleast to some of us;).
....given the rcmp's track record.... we all know how they LOVED scarely looking firearms.

Yeah, I hear you. I'm have an FS2000, PS90's, an XCR, a 50 cal, a belt-fed semi, a SCAR hopefully soon on the way (to name a few); classification and even more-so RE-classification scare me.

So if for some strange reason they class it as prohib do the people who have paid in full for the scar get their money back.

If they classify it as a Prohibited Firearm then we will look at the basis for their ruling.

If it can be appealed with reasonable possibility of winning then we would invite those who want to "hold their order" for the gun to wait for that outcome.

Those who don't want to wait and just want out would be refunded their payments in full, but they would give up their claim to the gun later... so if our appeal were successful they would have no claim to the gun.

From the material we have, the documentation from FN themselves, and inspection of the firearms, we do not believe there is any legal foundation for the RCMP to rule the SCAR 16s as being anything but a "Restricted" firearm based on barrel length.

Thanks again for the Update,,,, I know I appreciate it as I am sure the other CGN's do as well,,, I am still on the edge of my seat waiting for this one...

Yeah - I've been waiting for the delivery notice in the mail or the "Woooohoooo - got my Scar in the mail today" post - LOL!

Any news about the scar? Is there anything I can do to push the RCMP to work faster? They gotta learn that everything should have a deadline.

We are waiting for RCMP to issue the FRT # so that we can transfer the guns to customer's names. If you had a pre-order in place then you will have already received details on the situation and your order.

If you did not receive an email then you did not have an order placed.

We were able to import to Canada (before the export permit expired) enough SCAR's that we can fill all of the confirmed pre-orders we had.

US State Department has denied the renewal permit we submitted for SCAR's (specifically stated in the permit that the permit DOES NOT APPROVE THE EXPORT OF SCAR FIREARMS for commercial end-users).

Sorry guys new to importing and was following this thread. Whats the FRT # and since the US has not approved the export of scar's could one still buy it from some end user in the US who wants to unload his and bring it back?

FRT# is the Firearms Reference Table number that is basically a number used to look up the specifications of the firearm in the RCMP tables. Things like barrel length, action, calibre, classification, etc.

As for the second question. . .well, you could, but if you get as far as purchasing it in the US, your most difficult step will be getting it over the border. The US guys probably won't want to let it out, as the US won't issue an export certificate for it. But in the odd chance that you do get it past the Americans, the Canadians might not let it in, as there is no FRT#, and thus it is unknown if the firearm is prohibited, or otherwise. But if you do get it past the Canadians as well, then go buy up some lottery tickets because the luck certainly is with you, and don't tell anyone about your success.

Well I imagine there will be a FRT for it eventually. It looks like from this thread that the process has started. When coming back you wouldn't talk to US border agents only Canadian. So as long as it has a FRT (which I magine that everyone in this thread is hoping happens soon) The Canadians should allow it across.

I just wonder if you could even purchase from a store or something as a Canadian? They probably wouldn't sell it to you because they know you need an export certificate... It dosen't look like Canada cares about the export certificate.. http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publications/pub/bsf5044-eng.html#P011

Homeland security in the US gets really cranky if they catch a Canadian with a firearm ( or gun part ) in his possesion in their country . You will not only lose the firearm , possibly your car and jail time ! At our local crossing they set up a checkpoint charlie just as your leaving the US and you have no chance to do anything but crap your pants before they search your car ( using undercar mirrors and everything !) . Ask yourself ..... is it worth that ?

Im not going to do it I was just curious about the process..

...I love how the USA restricts what guns citizens of the rest of the world can buy.

Read what happened in Bosnia. Nationals from that country were buying Barrett .50 cal sniper rifles in the US and sending them home. Not one at a time either. And no one said anything until the guys who were on the receiving end happened to be the guys the US was on side with.

Frankly the US will do whatever the #### they want with firearms manufactured in their country and they could care less what you, me, or the ####ing fire hydrant thinks.

Mark,

Any news for the great unwashed about the FRT for the SCAR 16S?

I know they have a SIG SAPR in there as well and no FRT yet either.

You must be one patient mother####er. Impressive.

I wish there was but nothing yet. At this point waiting on FN to respond to RCMP inquiry and FN is slower than RCMP on this stuff.
