I usually don't go over the top with the whole scent free thing but I do believe it makes a difference. I had tried a scent free body wash while at deer camp a few years ago and it sucked! I believe it was Tinks body wash. There was no scent but there was also no suds or anything that felt like cleaning either. What do you guys use that is actually a half decent product? I would like to use something like this but not if they are all like the one I tried.

Just a bar of scent killer soap for me. I’ve always hated any body wash. Seems like half of it goes down the drain before it gets on me

Ivory soap.

Best 'scent killer' is to have the wind in your face, or climb a tree 25'.

Failing that, use whatever is in the environment where you are hunting.

Grab a handful of wet poplar, oak leaves, black muck, mash that into your hands, clothing and your pant legs.
Grab the end of a pine or spruce branch, roll and crush those needles then wipe that all over your clothes, especially your legs.

And if you come upon a moose wallow, deer scrape etc, grab some of that lovely dirt and do the same with it... maybe not as much depending on just how pungent it is.

I use HS specialties green body wash. if you use one of those shower puffs that my wife has 3 of hanging in the shower it suds up decently. If you don’t , you don’t get many suds! Remember to wash a towel in some scent free laundry soap to dry off with. If you don’t..you are just wiping the stink of the smelly laundry detergent your wife uses back on yourself when you dry off.

Shoot if I had my way I’d have a dedicated washer and dryer for my deer hunting gear so my wife could not contaminate me with her eau de flower crap laundry soap.

All drugstores have hypo allergenic scent free soaps and shampoos, way cheaper than the scent free hunting specific brands

I use the same stuff but I'm almost out. But there are some other good suggestions in this thread.

After watching hundreds of deer for 12 yrs in my yard , I don't put any credibility to this "scent thing" anymore. Im not saying they don't smell us....the scent just doesn't mater to them. I have been somewhat fortunate to be home 95% of the time in those years and can look out a house window any time of the day and see 1, 2 or a dozen or more in the yard within 50 yrds of the house. Some weeks we wont see a deer, the next we may see over a hundred in total. They routinely walk within 2 ft of the house or yard machines without a bother in the world
I've observed deer 20 ft from my work coats (work coats stink LOL)hanging on fence post or laying on a quad or lawnmower and not even pick their head up from feeding. Also I have been hiding behind buildings peeking at herds of deer and the wind current blowing directly to them and they might look around for a bit but wont "bust"...never.
But step out into view and move around and you will have every eye in the heard looking at you until one bust's and then the whole works will do likewise....movement or sound will bust them every time but I have never seen scent make one bit of difference to a wild deer.

As far as the comments about being down wind, up high etc. Thats a whole different topic. The body wash that I normally use has a notable scent. Just looking for a good option that will still make you feel like you actually showered. Looks like there are a few suggestions for me to try.

I gave up on the obsessive scent thing years ago. I do what I can to reduce my scent footprint. But going crazy with the scent game really sucks the fun out of hunting. I still shower before each hunt use no scent body wash, wash my clothes in no scent laundry soap and dry outside, I keep my clothes in a scent free container and I spray some scent killer on my boots and pant legs before I walk in.

If you don’t have a good way to get in and out undetected and if your wind ain’t right I know there isn’t much hope of fooling big Louie’s nose.

That’s about the same as my routine. I get some don’t bother and that’s cool. I get the hunt the wind thing and do so as much as possible but winds swirl and it I’m walking at some point k have to walk home.

I also get that some people come across dumb deer from time to time or deer that are used to human scent. But to assume that all deer in the woods act the same way is laughable

At the end of the day trying some type of scent control to whatever level you choose isn’t going to hurt. Not sure why others who choose not to try to belittle those who do

Exactly....if you think you are fooling a mature deers nose, you are fooling yourself. Hunt smart, watch the wind. Spook a mature deer once or twice and you likely won't see it again.

I think the whole scent-wash thing is a pile of hooey.

Do you really think that the kind of body soap you use is going to cover the scent of the inside of your truck, the gas in your quad or chain saw, the campfire you sat around last night, the odour of food you cooked, your own personal reek after you've had a #### and goodness knows other stink we generate?
