I guess filmmakers couldn't get a hold of contractor with Long Lee or cost had something to do with it.
It happens in a lot of movies.

Why, in your opinion, should it have been a Lee? Movie story line place them in the Belgium Congo, character with the rifle is U.S. citizen. Only the Tarzan character is somewhat British and he is only armed with with brain, friendship and understanding with the animals.

Interesting link though with the .303 and Maj. Rubin of Schmidt-Rubin fame.

No. They'll use what's available, or weapons that may have a particular look.
A friend in the movie business was looking desperately for Ross rifles for a early WW1 war movie about Canadaian troops.
He could not find enough un-sporterized Ross's even with all the collector's in our circle of friends.

Remember Hogan's Hero's tv Series?
German's using American Krag rifles.

It's just funny because they actually refer to it in the movie, calling it a Schmidt Rubin, I would make sense for the mercenaries to be using them, but not the Belgium troops. I get they will use what's available, Just thought it was odd
