School me on chokes!

Thank you all, I've learned a great deal. If anyone has examples of 590A1 barrels that have been fitted with choke tubes, I'd love to see pics and hear about your personal experiences with it.

I have no pics but Tacord did my 14" 590A1 with remchokes. Cost was 90 or 95 bucks plus shipping and tax. Not much to say, factory Remington flush chokes fit perfectly.

The Vang Comp system is closer to (but not) a very lengthened forcing cone as opposed to a choke. The forcing cone on some factory short barrels is tiny, which causes more disturbance to the shot as it travels down the barrel, when the shot becomes damaged the group size grows. That's why you see plated shot and special wad designs, it stops the shot from getting bruised. Vang Comp tightens the pattern without constricting the barrel. It's more effective with regular shot than it is with plated shot for that reason.

I believe that's a police order item, or at least was.

I can't remember which dealer, I think it was Ellwood Epps, brought a batch in a few years ago when everyone else had the bead sight CYL models. It was the first time in a long time they had been on the Canadian market at all. Regardless, they are out there.

I don't know of anyone threading Beretta Mobil chokes in Canada.
If you're having dispersion issues with buck shot from a cylinder barrel buy flight control wadded ammo. With birdshot a cylinder choke is fine to 30 yards for birds and 35 yards with steel for ducks. A certain percentage of the core pattern will hit the target no matter what the choke is
