school me on Retumbo!

Hey folks

Like the title says, im looking to get schooled on retumbo. I have a chance to buy it for $20 a pound.

What loads have you guys been sucessful with? How does it store? Can i buy the farm on this deal and have it stored for long periods?

I suggest that you buy all you can find at $20/lb. Retumbo is a very slow powder and thus has limited applications. See the representative list below, and in most cases it's for the heaviest bullets in those cartridges.

At the moment the only cartridge i can reload for on that list is 300wm. However there are a lot on there I would like to own hah. As long as it can store for extended periods i may go clean them out.

I use it in my 25/06 and performs great.

For $20 a pound its a no brainer. Hell, at current prices $40 is a deal.

I'm using it in my 8mm Remington Magnum with the 220 grain pills....works quite well.

Very slow burner, but consistent, and no unpleasant pressure spikes observed. Dave.

the best powder I used for the 338LM in 17 years
works well pushing heavy stuff in longer pipes. when too short, velocity loss is quite significative and may be very dirty.

Retumbo is the best powder I have used in any magnum, great in my 264 win and 7mm rem mag

Usually heavy bullets and full max loads.

Accurate and flys fast

300gr bullets, 30" barrel, best results I had were with Retumbo.
