School me on semi 22lr please

How large are your hands? It's an 80% sized "replica" of the full size 1911. As such a lot of men will find it tiny and a very poor fit in their hands. It's a gun which is primo for children and a lot of ladies with smaller hands though.

Oh sure, someone that takes L and verges on XL gloves like I do can hold it and shoot it. But it's a piss poor fit and attaining a comfortable and natural hold that provides proper support for good accuracy will be an issue.

I would like to teach my wife and boy on it, so that was part of the appeal.

I'm not a big fan of conversions but have had good times with a Ruger mk2, SW model 48 and model 17 and a Buckmark standard. Also shot a bud's Ruger Mk3. The Buckmark and Ruger Mk3 are close to the 1911 ergonomically. The SW 48 is a small J frame and the 17 is a medium K frame which are good training 22s for the centerfire versions.

However I just want to mention that eventually I sold or traded off all of these 22 handguns. They were not being used much and took up space in the safe. While they're a lot of fun for plinking, I got tired of doing that. I'd rather shoot centerfire handguns at this point. Since I cast my bullets and reload, ammo cost is not a big concern. I also enjoy casting and reloading as hobbies by themselves. YMMV
