I've recently acquired a JC Higgins Model 30. I had a Weaver B4 and C4 with tip-off mounts in my stash, so I thought I'd join vintage glass to vintage steel.
Turns out the rifle shoots extremely well, but I can't seem to get the windage right. I was using the C4. It has a standard Weaver tip-off base. It wants to shoot an inch right (all in a penny-sized group, though). Is there something I'm missing with the mounting? Is there a special trick to using these old girls? I don't know a whole helluva lot about optics besides the most general information.
Incidentally, the B4 has a Weaver tip-off 3/4". What's the difference?
