Picked up this barreled action, Anyone know what type of bolt stop/ejector this is suppose to be modified for?

Thanks

Ok, not a K98 ejector box....not sure about that one.
All my S&L M58's are K98 based, no help here.

I have a Schultz and Larsen Model 60 - nothing like that! Is that rearmost hole threaded? The hole that is more or less in line with the trigger unit pin hole? Seems to me a S&L M65 that I worked on had a threaded stud that went in about there - resulting in an "eye" that was out on the left side of receiver, for the ejector to pivot on... Of course both S&L rifles that I mention are the tubular rear locking S&L actions - OP's seems to be something similar to a Mauser 98 milsurp, given the thumb slot through that left rail?

Might want to Google that Model - they were made as target rifles by S&L from captured / war surplus German 98 Mausers - S&L barrels. Would have been equipped with an aperture rear sight which had its base on that left side, no doubt (but not known for sure by me), it incorporated the ejector function within that rear sight assembly.

Its made from a VZ24 Mauser... And the ejector box was replaced with a plate and 2 threaded holes.

All other 58 models uses a K98 ejector box from what I can tell.

Check in the gunsmith forum... someone there likely knows.

I asked Tiriaq and he ever seen this before.

I contacted the guy that I bought it from, he used to have pictures of his buddies rifle with the same setup, and was going to copy it. But life got in the way and his friend passed away over a year ago, and his guns went to auction. So he trying to find the photos he had.

But google is coming up NIL.. Supposedly Lyman made a rear sight with a build in ejector, but that went on the ejector box.

It's D&T on the top as well, 3 holes, 2 smaller, with a larger in the center, about 5/8" spacing between the furthest.

Probably had the M52 sites on it at some point like this.

Possible. Mines 762 NATO. The muzzle was step down, so I assume it had the same front sight. But it was replaced with Dovetail for a Globe style Front Sight.

But none of the Schultz And Larsen models I googled, uses a ejector box of this style. It looks professional when they put in the plate.

That might explain it then...the 7.62's were export models, so whatever country got it likely modded it to their own style of sights.
Are you looking to get it shooting agai?
Probably easier and cheaper to grab any old commercial 98 off Tradex and throw the barrel on it, they have some HVA 98's for $250-$300. They also have short action mag housings as well.
Looking at all the pics here, it looks like an S&L barrel was thrown on an old Yugo sporter action, the top D&T work and the welded bolt handle looks commercial sporter. Barrel looks much cleaner then the receiver, S&L refinished the entire rifles before they went out. Front sight globe was knocked off and a Parker Hale rail added.

This thread isn't a nit pick at what I bought. But help me figure what ejector it was modified for.

That piece is for a handguard, it's only soldered on which being removed.

Zooming in on those pictures, I notice two more holes on top of the front receiver ring? So likely at some point had scope mount bases installed - might explain a few of those holes on that rear bridge - one or two of them might belong to a partner rear base, for that front one. I ended up with mausers with various arrangements - on the rear bridge, one hole to take the single screw for a one piece base, two holes for a base with .505" spacing, and then some with three holes that seem to be both .505" plus .605" spacing. Your measurement of "about 5/8" - that would be .625", so could actually be a .605" centre to centre spacing? Various Weaver and Parker Hale bases here came with #6-48tpi screws, so seems to have been common, even in Europe and Great Britain, as a scope base thread? Several of the Husqvarna here seem to have metric thread on various screws, although my Schultz and Larson was drilled and tapped for 6-48 base screws - I do not know if that was done by S&L or by a former owner, but the S&L M 60 does not have iron sights, so I assume they came D&T for some sort of scope bases.

Thanks, but I'm more intrested in finding out what ejector and bolt stop it uses.

I am curious about that as well. Was thinking to eliminate one or more of those screw holes on top as a possible mounting scheme for whatever was installed on the rifle. It is a curious set-up, for sure!!

Found a rifle at least that is similar...M69 7.62, looks to be an AJ Parker rear sight maybe? Still doesn't explain the modified ejector.

The person I bought it from. Said it was 1 piece, similar to the factory, but had the bolt stop and ejector as one piece. Secured by 2 screws. From what he seen from a late friend that had a similar setup. So sounds custom to a batch. But had to be used else wheres. One doesn't re invent the wheel.

Well things are coming together.

The large tapped hole on the side is 1/4-28 and I can make a peg that acts like a bolt stop. I also sourced out mounts that works with the pre drilled holes.

Weaver #54 is .504 CTC, but only .222 height. Weaver 71A is .625 hole spacing, but assume since it meant for the front, it would be .222 like most weaver front mounts. Better than drilling more holes.
