Just seeing what these rifles are about. I've heard of one for sale and am wondering if they are good rifles. How is the accuracy? What is their value? Thanks

My favorite 30 cal magnum and my favorite bolt action rifle. Mine is a 65DL model.

In my estimation, they are a very good quality rifle. The down side is factory ammo isn't usually found available at a lot of shops. Not a problem if you reload and, ;) no complaints on the accuracy.

Hard to go wrong with a Schultz & Larsen in the caliber you list if it is in good shape.
If they would of branded it .308 win mag, it think the outcome for these chaps would
of taken a different turn.
Fabulous cartridge with decent legs.

I just replace the eye bawls on mine and this is the target with little effort.
I think the skeeterz's wuzz bugg'in Johann when he wuzz shewt'in at hizz tarrrgitt.

I had a couple Schultz & Larsen M. 68 DL in 308 Norma over the years, both very accurate and beautifully made.
Then I happened across an old 721 Remington originally a 30-06 that someone had re-worked the bolt face and re-chambered to 308 Norma.
Much to my amazement it was making super tight groups considering its age and I would still have it if a beautiful 375 had not come along.
But the good part is I now have about a lifetime or two supply of 308 Norma brass ready for the next build..

most acurate barels are from schultz company,

Many years ago, about the early 60's, an old eastern European gunsmith in the interior showed my first look at a Schultz & Larsen. I was hooked and now have three. From the top down;
- A model 68DL in 7x61S&H
- A model 65DL in 308NM
- A model 68DL in 358NM

Anyway, it was his opinion that they were one of the highest quality rifles available at that time, had a great action but shining glory was their barrels. Top of the line, the equivalent of Douglas air guaged in quality.

---I also had 3 ordered direct from the factory while in Europe---model 68DL in 7x61 S&H--6mm Rem and 308 Norma Mag--the 7x61 is sold ---the 6mm and 308 Norma are available to be sold--Excellent rifles and accurate.----Bent Barrel (bentbbl@telus.net)

Out of all of my rifles, my Schultz & Larsen has the smoothest bolt. You can tell just by working the bolt that the machining is top notch. My rifle is a model 65 DL chambered in 308 norma. Its very accurate. I have a picture of a target I shot but photo bucket isn't working for me at the moment. My rifle has been a safe queen now for quite a long time. I need to get norma out for a date.

Schultz and Larsen are not well known in NA,its marketing ,they are one of best factory made rifle ever,u have to shoot and hold one to see quallity, better than kimber, sako etc, look at new model Victory, they are only rifle manafact to use rifle cut barels in the world, there is no single plastic part on the rifle, compare to Blaser they have soul and heritage ,history, this is one of top notch European brands purposly ignored by NA ,again u have to hold one to know whats all about, most accurate rifles

How would a guy tell if a rifle had cut rifling in a barrel ? As far as the 308norma cartridge it seems to better the 300win in that it has a longer neck for one thing with similar balistics

[/IMG]I shot these 2 groups back in 2002. First group is on the right, I adjusted the scope to the left and shot the 2nd group. The load was 165 gr hornady bullets and 74 grains of imr 4831.

Hey this thread is exactly what I was looking for. I just got a
model 65 DL in 7x61 S&H. Now it isn't in as good a shape as the ones here but what are they worth ( approx). The action is very smooth. I like it.

I think you're referring to the newer 300 Norma Mag, not the 308 Norma Mag. 300 has no belt, 308 has the belt. - dan
