I am thinking of buying an M69 from Tradeex (actually an M52 with an M58/M69 barrel), and I only require the stock.
Anybody want the barreled-action? (I have enough spare parts). The barrel has minor surface rust which can be cleaned up and the bore is "very good" ! Tradeex usually understates condition, so I suspect it has an exceptional bore. It's an S&L medium-heavy contour barrel and these are known for their superb accuracy. The action is really interesting as it is uncommon: 1917 GEW 98 Waffenwerke Oberspree Kornbusch & Co., used in WWII of course. It comes with an M52 (M1 Garand style) front sight and an M52/M58 Danish rear diopter sight.
Standard K98 bottom metal/trigger guard and a re-worked K98 trigger.
Chambered in 6.5x55 of course.
Steel wool and elbow grease can net great results, or you could go the polish and colour case hardening route for bling, or a polish and traditional rust blue route. Plenty of potential!
It would make an excellent project and basis for an interesting custom rifle. Most M52/M58/M69 rifles are parts mix masters, with cut/reshaped K98 stocks or S&L target stocks. No matching K98's are being harmed
The rifle itself is $350 + shipping and I want to recoup some of the cost. People who know me know that I don't ask for much and I often just give stuff away.
Let me know.
