scope base/rail for 5R

Did your B.O. base came with torx screws?
Wolverine Supplies told me their base comes with socket heads, although they sell extra 6-48 screws on torx for extra 10cad.

Although brownells is just out of stock currently, I saw on their promo vid the base already comes with torx screws. So probably wolverine had an old batch/production?

Had to wait for now...

Mine came with Torx, I wasn't aware that there were options.... I never asked wolverine when I ordered mine but they were in the package when it arrived!
For me, if $10 means piece of mind i'm happy to pay it. I've combined it with a set of B.O. Steel rings and i've never had a more rock solid mount.

Rings are important, a scope is important but not the base. I found that relatively cheap rails (EGW for example) work as great as more expensive ones (Nightforce, Near). I'm pretty sure experienced shooters confirm my words.

How is the base not important?

How are your rings going to hold your scope straight and true? ...on a stiff and straight rail...

The base is more important than you might think.

If you get a good one and mount it correctly, it can be used to help stiffen the action.

An aluminium one piece base is not as stiff as a good steel one piece base, and if you use JB weld to mount the rail, you'll hold zero better over time.

A common upgrade is to use larger screws to hold the base because the originals are a little on the small side.

Keep in mind that the screw direction is not consistent with the direction of axis flex and offer poor mechanical leverage to the direction of action deflection when a round is fired.

Think about the action bending like a banana when the round is fired.

Nothing wrong with EGW, they are a quality product. NEAR is fantastic too and generally what I like to use on my rifles. Had bad luck with Badger steel rings marring scopes in the past so I stay with high quality aluminum rings, not saying anyone is wrong with B.O. just my personal experience I stay away from them.
