Hi I Just got my new Remington 700 R5 Milspec and am looking for a 20MOA scope base mount for it. if anyone knows of any dealers that have them instock or can recomend a brand of base they know works well on Remington's would be appriciated.

Thank you

Near Mfg, NF. I ordered my Near base through Richard directly and I got the NF base at Pand D. In my opinion Near makes the best base and rings out there and he is Canadian as well. Customer svc is also second to none.

Are you planning on bedding your base?

That is the first time I have ever heard of bedding a scope base. How is it done?

From what I've seen on the Remingtons, the back end of the action always seems to sit lower than the front end closest to the barrel. Mount the base using only the front screws. No need to torque it all the way just yet. With that done, have a look at the rear end of the base and see if there is daylight between the scope base and the action, provided your base isn't warped to begin with. If there is a gap, you might want to bed the base with JB Weld, Marine Tex etc.

I read recently that the cause of the 700's actions being uneven is that the front part is machined and the rear action is hand finished. Don't know how true that is. I'm sure other devout 700 shooters might know the answer.
