scope brightness?

if you are using a scope shade of about 4 inches or less, do you lose some of the scopes brightness?

through my experience with sun shades i have found that i have. which makes sense since the sunshade is designed to eliminate too much light entering the scope. it should work the same in lower light conditions making the scope seem darker.... my .02

Not that I have noticed. Mine is on the scope all the time as a sun/rain shield.

Wish I had a short soft shade at the eye end of the scope.
