I just installed an arms 18 mount on my rifle along with a Bushnell 10X mildot scope and low rings. My rifle never had any jamming issues until the mount and scope were installed. Now that the scope is installed, I keep getting a case that jams between the op rod and the action/front part of the scope mount. I also noticed that i have dings on the bottom of my windage turret now(was a new scope).

Now, What I think is happening is that the cartridges are flipping up and hitting the turret, falling back into the action and jamming on the oprod. I'm sure that with any regular sized turret this would be a non issue... Has anyone else had this problem? I have since moved the scope further forward to see if that helps and might try higher rings to see if that might make a difference. I'm also thinking of trying to make some sort of deflector, but i need to see exactly how the case comes out to to that.

Assuming your shooting an M-14, buy an Ultimak. I did. You can mount the scope in the "scout" position. (assuming you have the right scope/optic).

Your elevation is off. Check the front of the mount. There you will find a set screw with a "C" clip retainer. You must remove the retainer and add 1/8" hieght. Once I did this it worked fine. M14Doctor showed it to me. PM him and he can discribe it better. Sorry not to tech savey.

Rotate the scope counterclockwise. The windge knob becomes the elevation, elevation becomes the windage.

Common with the ARMS mount and some norcs - its low - less space for the brass to get free.
If all else fails - dremel it out to look like the old style ARMS
The old ARMS was better - was cut away.

Thanks for the tips guys. I'll take a look at the front pad on the mount, might give me just enough clearance. As for releaving the mount, i don't think that the casings are even hitting the mount other than where the clamp is replacing the stripper clip guide, so the relief might not make a difference.

I'm gonna give a few things a try and i'll let you know the fix.

Update:

I tried just moving the scope forward to give more clearance for casings to flip up and I got the ejection failures down to about 1 in 40 rounds. Medium height rings will probably solve the problem entirely. Hopefully this info helps someone else with the same problem.

One quick thing that you should look at, is the scope mount locking bolt protruding into the bolt left lug guide in the receiver and rubbing on the bolt lug?
