Scope choice

Assembling what will become a moose and bear hunting gun in 338fed. The donor rifle is in the mail and all other parts minus scope and rings are purchased. I had originally planned to use another nightforce shv but with the simpler illuminated hunter reticle instead of the moar ret in my current nightforce. The thought of a simpler reticle with centered illumination has led me down the road of smaller lighter 1-4x24 and 1-8x30 options with the german 4a illuminated dot. Now ill mostly hunt bear in thick timber in northern ontario and moose offer a big target so magnifacation isnt a major concern as shots wont be longer than couple hundred yards.
I love the nightforce glass and illumination will i regret going with a smaller lighter scope based on glass quality?
Bushnell forge 1-8x30 is the front runner now if i were to choose other than another shv. The only negative of the nightforce is weight

Leupold makes the lightest scopes...maybe even consider a 2-10?

How did hunting become so technical. esp moose hunting.

In the old days, everyone used a 4x fixed, then we found out about a 3-9 and all was well.

Its not so much the magnification its finding glass and illumination as good nightforce in a smaller lighter package
Leupold when compared to the shv i bought wasnt even in the same league. I havent had a chance to use the firedot reticle yet though
