Scope choices for .204?

All right then, I was looking for a .223, but ended up buying a T3 Lite .204- new caliber to me, so I thought I'd give it a go. Obviously it needs glass, so I thought I would sound you learned gentlemen (and ladies) out.

Ideally I would like something in the 6-18x or 4-16x magnification range, but not something so big and heavy that I end up with a scope with a rifle hiding under it. Not a fan of trick reticles- a dot, fine cross or duplex is fine by me, but I can stomach a mil dot if needs be.

Oh, and the missus is off to the States next month, so she could always bring me back something nice from over there.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks!

We could be more helpful if you could give us a price range your interested in and what you intend to use the rifle for. I have a Bushnell Elite 4200 4X16X40 on one of my 204s that I use for calling coyotes and I have a Burris Black Diamond 6X24X50 on one that I use for calling and shooting gophers. I'm leaning toward a Zeiss Conquest in 4.5X14X50 for a new coyote calling custom 204 that hopefully will be here late this fall.

I have a Sightron 6-24x42d on order for the 204. just counting down the days until it arrives. On my 17hmr, i have a Sightron 4-16x42d. it is great for gophers. price is right also

I have the same rifle and stuck a Tasco 6x24 on it as that was all i had kicking around at the time. Cheap at $100 bucks but it has served well for 2 years, i wouldn't put that scope on anything with any recoil though. Most good guality scopes that use higher magnifcation are priced well over $500, maybe look at the Vortex or Redfield lineup. Watch out for import restrictions on scopes from the states, wouldn't want the missus in trouble or maybe you do.

I'm running a Vortex Viper HS 4-16x44 (BDC reticle) on both of my .223s right now, love them. If I had a .204 (and I'm contemplating getting one) it too would likely wear the same scope. Were I do deviate from this path even a little...I might move one of the Vipers to the new .204 and get a Burris E1 4.5-14x for the now-naked .223. I'd be losing the side focus of the Viper, but saving some money too.

I mounted a vortex viper 6.5-20-44 on my tikka varmint 22-250 a few days ago. I was all over the internet and that is what I decided to buy. I'm still hoping I made a good choice as I haven't tried it yet. Locals tell me at the gunstore its a keeper...
