Can you recommend a ballistic program that does this?
Every ballistic program that I have looked at tells me the drop in MOA for pre-determined distance increments and I think this is just plain backwards, because the drop at even yardage almost never corelates with a click on my scope.
Typical report is something like
240yards = 2.04 MOA
250yards = 2.29 MOA
260Yards = 2.62 MOA
In my mind it would be a more useful report if it was more like this...
2.0 MOA = 239 Yards
2.25 MOA = 248 Yards
2.5 MOA = 257 Yards
About 20 years ago I wrote a program that back tracks the ballistic curve based on actual shooting results to create a report that tells me what distance the rifle will hit for each click of the turret. This output makes much more sense to me.
So... I'm wondering if any of you happen to be familiar with an external ballistic program that outputs such a result?
The limitation with the program I wrote is that it only generates results based on actual drop at two distances and is only valid under the conditions where these drops are factual. It has no regard for BC, muzzle velocity, altitude etc. It's just a curve generator that does some math.
I would like to find a nicely developed external ballistics program that uses BC, muzzle velocity atmospherics... etc that also produces such a report.
